This quilt is in the works. I always like laying out the pieces on an existing bed and playing with them before I start pinning them on the fabric. Kind of like fitting a dress before actually sewing it.
I decided to start the quilting section with this one particular photo because it was for my daughter, Elyse. She chose the fabrics and wanted a cheerful large spunky pattern. We got this far before she got sick and passed away. I quit sewing for awhile, and Elyse would not be happy about this.
Quilts are just a happy place. They are usable art. They are pieces of our memories. All are wonderful; from the patchwork variety made out of our grandmothers polyester-double knit pantsuits to painstakingly placed slivers of high quality cottons that create masterpieces.
For me, I know my daughter will be happy to know that I am completing her quilt, and I know I will be happy thinking of memories of us while I stitch.....this one's for you my darling Elyse!
